Welcome to Southside Residential Program

When there is instability and change in their lives, people need to be encouraged, supported, and nurtured. This is particularly true of girls who are not only moving through adolescence, but who may be dealing with issues including alienation from their family, and involvement in street activities. Providing a stable, safe environment for teenage girls in transition is often a key first step in establishing a foundation for them to overcome obstacles and move forward in a positive way.

Southside Residential Program offers:

  • A long-term, stable environment
  • A welcoming and comfortable home with nutritious meals
  • Educational and recreational opportunities
  • Counselling and support services

How Southside Residential Program Can Help

Southside Residential Program provides a safe and caring environment for girls aged 13-18 where residents are treated fairly, respectfully and with dignity. The group home offers residential services for girls with behaviour and emotional challenges, who cannot remain in their own homes and who, for the present, cannot adjust to a family care home.

The program provides residents with the opportunity to:

  • Increase their knowledge of and ability to utilize positive life skills
  • Practice healthy lifestyles
  • Increase their involvement in recreational and community activities
  • Increase their attendance at school, work training or other appropriate activities
  • Build their independence and self-esteem
  • Enhance their social and interpersonal skills and improve positive social connections with adults, the community, their family and peers
  • Be reunited with their family, or increase their ability to live independently

Positive role modeling and advocacy for youth are also key components of the Southside program.
